Ah Le Pizy the cheese I always say wrong and my co workers make fun of me for it. This week we’re doing a cheese close to home all the way from St-Roch Ouest Québec. I enjoy this cheese for a variety of reasons. The fun label, perfect for events, it cuts easy, spreads easy and most important it tastes lovely.
Now you should never judge a book by its cover but the Le Pizy fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and when you stare down. You see a big orange label with a yellow ring. When you stare into it reminds you of the raising sun hitting the field in the morning. A fun symbol is above the Le Pizy a symbol of cheese, bread, wheat and a bucket. The cheese is made by a Fromagerie La Suisse Normande a wife who makes the cheese and a husband who cares for the animals.
I think of this cheese as the perfect grab for parties, parents, in-laws and all kinds of events. At $12 dollars for 200 grams it’s a steal, you show up to the event open it up allow it to breath and warm up for 15 minutes and draw the people in. Have some bread ready cut a piece and smear it right on. Oh boy its good all on its own too a fruity white wine.
Now looking at this small disk with the pale yellow rind it doesn’t look like much but cut in and find golden treasure of a pale yellow gooey yummy paste that flows out slowly. Lift up it to your nose let it remind you of sweet yogurt and simple times as it takes your nose for a sunny dance. As you place it on your tongue the creamy paste melts and you get, damn its so good I need a another taste to think on it ok once more. As it melts on your mouth it’s
Salt – Meduim
Sweet- meduim
Umami – englufs you at the front
Bitter- a little on the soft rind
Sour – none
A smooth dream of butter delight you’ll find yourself saying ” Fuck that’s good cheese”. I would suggest putting it on a warm bacon sandwich grabbing a book and let the day slip by.
